Peter Maybury is a visual and sound artist and graphic designer based in Dublin. He has released recordings on Emigré Music, Sub Rosa and Fällt, and was a member of Thread Pulls and Rainfear. The source material for Landfall developed from a live drum performance to accompany his film installation of the same name. Featuring footage of the Corrib Gas Project, the occupation of Apollo House and an Extinction Rebellion action, the film focuses on themes of contested ground, boundaries, public and private, resources, energy, systems, and structures. This album uses only acoustic and electronic drums as sound sources, woven into densely polyrhythmic, dub-inflected electronic pieces that alternate between odd and even time signatures.

This music developed out of a live drumming performance to accompany my film installation Landfall (2020). Tracks 2 and 6 contain elements from the film soundtrack. Track 9 includes audio (also from the film) of the Extinction Rebellion (XR) ‘Fast fashion action’ outside Penneys, O’Connell St., Dublin, 19 October 2019. All other sounds were produced from acoustic drums, cymbals and electronic drum kit.
Recorded and processed at home from March – May 2020, and mixed August 2021.
Mastered by David Donohoe.

It's unfair to have to choose one of these divine pieces of work as a favourite, words can't describe the levels of absolute wonder here, this is a meeting of two incredibly talented forces who blend into each other instead of crashing together, melding into one sonic feast of delights. Love this lots. Plague Arish Fan Club
