Drojji is the Moscow-based electronic duo of film composer / sound artist Andrey Guryanov and improvisor / noise musician Feliks Mikenskiy.

While their output together is stylistically diverse, Chores utilises Max/MSP, Ableton, no-input mixer and tone height recognition software to produce a raw mixture of digital noise, skronk electronic, and high-tempo beats. We are sent speeding through an arid sonic landscape littered with stuttering machinery, occasionally encountering disarming bursts of tonality.

Billed as “an arboreal music and research project,” this experimental/sound art duo is inspired by the Robert Frost line, “The woods are lovely, dark and deep.” Performed and recorded outdoors, the cello and keyboards of the pair indeed invoke the spirit of the woods, and, as this is a field recording, including incidental sounds of their live session, like a barking dog, which actually doesn’t detract from the music being performed.
